It is intended to assist the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC) in describing and positioning its addiction treatment services from a return-on-investment (ROI) perspective in terms of supporting individual recovery, community well-being, and population health. Economic evaluation is important because resources are scarce. Choices have to be made regarding the resources committed to various substance abuse and problem gambling treatment programs. Economic evaluation is an organized approach to structuring a decision to commit resources to one use rather than another. It makes explicit the relevant altematives, viewpoints, and provides measurement of inputs and outputs.Item Open Access Problem gambling help line annual narrative report(CHC Atlantic, 1998-03) MacDougall, CathyDuring its first year of services, the Problem Gambling Help Line provided service to 3,964 callers or 1636 individuals. Of these, 914 identified themselves as gamblers seeking assistance to stop or control their gambling. The Help Line was established as a partnership between the Nova Scotia Department of Health and the contractor CHC Atlantic. Its goal was to deliver a telecommunication counselling information and referral service to those persons and their familes affected with problem gambling in the Province of Nova Scotia.
