During its first year of services, the Problem Gambling Help Line provided service to 3,964 callers or 1636 individuals. Of these, 914 identified themselves as gamblers seeking assistance to stop or control their gambling. The Help Line was established as a partnership between the Nova Scotia Department of Health and the contractor CHC Atlantic. Its goal was to deliver a telecommunication counselling information and referral service to those persons and their familes affected with problem gambling in the Province of Nova Scotia.en
