Abstract
Flood Waters centres around Matilda Netherwood, a young woman suffering from severe epilepsy, and examines her coming-of-age as she breaks free from her extremely strict and restrictive grandfather and finds herself in a relationship with a married man. As Matilda navigates illness and isolation, and then illness and motherhood, the various perspectives of the novel ruminate on her past and present and the ways in which she is and has always been a haunted woman.
