Abstract
Knowledge-based systems have been the subject of considerable
attention lately, because they offer an alternative to standard
software development techniques. The two principles underlying
knowledge-based development are 1) psychological validity of the
program's structure, and 2) incremental development of the
components of the program. This paper discusses the development
of a knowledge-based system for interpreting problem reports in
a cellular telecommunications network, emphasizing analysis
and design methods.
