dc.description.abstract | This paper describes and proves correct an algorithm for the initial placement of input and output ports around the border and interior of a VLSI leaf cell in a symbolic-layout design environment, given a set of constraints on the relative position of ports. This algorithm is used in the Stanley [Brinsmead 88] automated layout system, currently under development at the University of Calgary. | eng |
