dc.description.abstract | Currently, Mexico relies on a neoliberal strategy for development and the improvement of life conditions. As part of this strategy, the state has guided urban planning towards the creation of tourist enclaves. However, the anticipated positive effects of tourism on the residents’ quality of life have been called into question. Given the economic character of the spaces produced, subjective components of space and their influence on wellbeing are neglected in the state’s development model. To support a qualitative shift in the urban planning framework in the context of tourism development, this work proposes a thorough identification of the features of place that, existing at the site prior to tourism development, are key for any discussion of wellbeing. | en_US |
